The BC Diabetes Research Network is delighted to announce the launch of our official podcast: “Diabetes: From Beta Cells to Bicycles“. In our first season, host Krista Lamb sits down with six prominent diabetes researchers in British Columbia, discussing the many aspects of diabetes research and the exciting work being done in the province. “Diabetes: From Beta Cells to Bicycles” refers to the multi-disciplinary nature of diabetes research in BC – from lab bench discoveries to nutrition and exercise sciences– BCDRN researchers are working on many fronts to expand what we know about diabetes, while working towards a cure.

In our first episode, host Krista Lamb talks to BC Diabetes Research Network lead and UBC professor Dr. Bruce Verchere, who introduces the BCDRN network and its goal of bringing diabetes researchers together. He also describes his lab’s ongoing research on beta cell function and biomarkers to better understand and predict diabetes.
