Join us in Kelowna on June 12th as we celebrate our 5th annual UBCO Diabetes & Obesity Research Day. This meeting is focused on all aspects of diabetes & obesity research – from beta cells to bicycles.

Diabetes & Obesity Research Day 2024 will celebrate the accomplishments of our colleagues and the positive impact of their research on people and families living with and at risk for diabetes and obesity across British Columbia.

This exciting annual scientific day enables academic researchers from across British Columbia to connect, collaborate, and present their research. Graduate trainees are invited to deliver an oral presentation or present a scientific poster highlighting their research project. This in-person event includes both on campus presentations at UBCO campus and an evening scientific poster reception at a local venue.

This interprovincial meeting is designed to support research collaboration across campuses and connect the UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan research communities. Ground transportation and accommodations will be organized for trainees from Vancouver-Kelowna.

Research themes:

  • Diabetes and Obesity Prevention
  • Dietary and Activity Interventions
  • Behaviour Change
  • Complications of Diabetes and Obesity
  • Molecular Mechanisms
  • Translational Research
  • Islet Cell Therapy
