ABOUT UBCO DIABETES & OBESITY RESEARCH DAY

UBCO Diabetes & Obesity Research Day is our annual event to showcase the research excellence of our post doctoral fellows and graduate students. This trainee-led research day began in 2018 with the aim to bring researchers from across British Columbia together to share their latest discoveries in the field of diabetes and obesity research.

We encourage presentations in all areas of diabetes and obesity research and we welcome work that shares and informs Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. This year the event will include an invited keynote speaker, invited faculty talks, trainee presentations and an evening poster session and networking reception at a local venue.  We look forward to seeing you in Kelowna on June 7th.

We invite all trainees to submit an abstract to deliver an oral presentation or present a scientific poster. Our intention is to invite everyone who submits an abstract to present either an oral or poster. Everyone who requests a poster presentation will be accommodated. If you select the “oral presentation or poster” option, the organizing committee will strive to communicate mid-May to confirm who is invited to deliver an oral presentation.

Poster Presentation Instructions:

All poster presenters are invited to bring their printed poster to the evening reception and display it on a poster board. Note, preferred poster orientation is horizontal and maximum size is 36 x 48. All poster presenters will have an opportunity to present their research to a judging panel for 5 minutes and 2 minutes for questions.

TRAINEE TRAVEL SUPPORT

Ground transportation and shared accommodations will be arranged for out of town delegates. We are applying for a UBC Mobility award to offset travel costs from Vancouver to Kelowna for trainee delegates. Details will be communicated in May 2023 after we receive notice from UBC regarding the mobility award application.  If the grant is not funded, there will be some fees for out-of-town delegates which we would seek to recover from faculty supervisors.
