Robert Boushel is Professor and Director of the School of Kinesiology at UBC, and cross-appointed professor in the Division of Sport and Exercise Medicine, Faculty of Medicine. Prior to joining UBC in 2015, he was professor and Chair in Physiology at the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences in Stockholm. He was formerly head of the graduate program in Molecular Biomedicine, and senior scientist at the Copenhagen Muscle Research Centre, University of Copenhagen. He has published extensively on the physiological responses to acute exercise and training, integrating cardiovascular and metabolic regulation in healthy humans and clinical populations. His work has included numerous field expeditions to the Andes, Alps, Rockies, northern Greenland and Alaska. His current research integrates molecular-to-organ system responses to exercise to advance our understanding of the mechanisms by which exercise and diet improve function and health.
