World Diabetes Day Vancouver premiere film screening of “The Human Trial”
Join us on World Diabetes Day for an evening celebrating the people in British Columbia who are committed to diabetes research, advocacy, and community building.
The BC Diabetes Research Network and Young & Type 1 are excited to present the Vancouver film premiere of “The Human Trial”. The event will celebrate our community partner “Young and Type 1’s” ten years of advocacy and support of young people navigating living with diabetes in British Columbia. This special evening for the diabetes community members and partners will also feature a panel discussion following the screening with the film makers, a patient and a scientist.
About the film: “The Human Trial” peels back the headlines to show the sweat, passion and sacrifice poured into every medical breakthrough. It interweaves the stories of the patients — who have borne the physical and financial burdens of type 1 diabetes (T1D) — with the researchers who epitomize the struggle of innovating cures. Director Lisa Hepner — whose own T1D fuels her search for a cure — becomes the bridge between these two worlds, The narrative arc is the clinical trial itself.
